DROP DRIPA in British Columbia

To: The Government of British Columbia

We, the undersigned residents of British Columbia, request the repeal of the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRIPA).

DRIPA is the most radical law ever passed in British Columbia’s history. This legislation:

  • Requires the permanent transfer of ownership and control over lands and resources worth billions of dollars to indigenous bands
  • Gives veto rights over virtually every government approval and decision to these 200+ bands and their lobby groups, who are not elected by or accountable to the public
  • Dictates that all BC laws be rewritten to conform with the laws, myths, and practices of indigenous bands

DRIPA is :

  • Divisive: it enables sovereignty claims by over 200 indigenous bands, many with fewer than 100 members
  • Destructive: DRIPA-inspired agreements on Haida Gwaii and the Sunshine Coast are already lowering private property values.
  • Anti-Development: band vetoes, lawsuits, and blockades cause extraordinary project delays, accommodation payouts, and permit denials
  • Regressive: These wealth transfers enrich lawyers, chiefs, and consultants of the “reconciliation industry”, diverting supports from hardworking indigenous and non-indigenous British Columbians

What all British Columbians need is better laws, not just older ones, an equal opportunity to prosper, and a future built on common ground.

To do that, British Columba must DROP DRIPA!

Get this petition to 10,000 signatures, and we will present it to the Premier and the Legislature to demand the repeal of DRIPA.
